Tour Jamaica
St Ann
Known as the garden parish, St. Ann’s coastline, fringed by postcard-perfect beaches or rugged rocky coves undulates over the luxuriant, green hills and valleys to the cool interior. There, small town and farm communities nestle amidst wild ornamentals and flourishing crops to create a serene picture of what Jamaican call “country”. The Spanish settled and build Sevilla la Nueva, the first Spanish capital of Jamaica. The capital was later moved to Spanish Town in St. Catherine. In 1860, Watt Town became home of Jamaica’s first native religion – Revival. For an authentic Jamaica experience, arrange to visit the annual Revival Convention in Watt Town. An important bauxite-mining area, St. Ann is also renowned for the resort Ocho Rios – where you can climb the popular Dunn’s river Falls. For the environmentally inclined, visit Fern Gully, habitat to indigenous species of ferns, Green Grotto Caves, White River and Cranbrook Forest. Have fun with the friendliest of fishes at Dolphin Cove. This parish was also home to International reggae icon Bob Marley and black activist, philosopher and National Hero, the Rt. Excellent Marcus Garvey. Visit Bob Marley’s birthplace.
